The company received the Quantification and Reduction Seals for its Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions for the fifth and third consecutive years, respectively, and was also recognized for its participation in the pilot program for the Water Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) system.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the HuellaChile 2025 Recognition Ceremony<\/strong>, held during the second edition of the Chile Carbon Forum<\/em> at Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Chile\u2014one of the country\u2019s key events for carbon market development\u2014Compa\u00f1\u00eda Minera del Pac\u00edfico (CMP) received three major distinctions, the result of its Process Risk Management (GRP)business model applied to environmental management.<\/p>\n

The recognitions include the Quantification<\/strong> and Reduction Seals<\/strong> for Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions\u2014received for the fifth and third time, respectively\u2014as well as an acknowledgment for CMP\u2019s participation in the Water Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV)<\/strong> pilot program, an initiative led by the Ministry of the Environment (MMA) and supported by CORFO (Chilean Economic Development Agency).<\/p>\n

This pilot aims to standardize how organizations measure, manage, and report their water footprint, through the development and validation of methodologies and tools that could soon become the basis for a certification system promoting efficient water use and reduced consumption.<\/p>\n

In this context, CMP was the only mining company recognized, reaffirming the effectiveness of its path toward sustainable mining and its ability to collaborate with national authorities and participate in projects that strengthen traceability and the responsible management of natural resources\u2014key elements for sustainable growth and development.<\/p>\n

Representing CMP at the ceremony were Paulina Andreoli, Risk Management and Sustainability Manager, and Maytte Inojosa, Head of Sustainability and Strategic Planning. Both emphasized that these achievements reinforce CMP\u2019s commitment to environmental management and sustainability, while participation in the Water MRV pilot marks an important step toward a future water certification seal.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are proud and happy to be recognized once again by the Ministry of the Environment with these seals. This milestone reflects all the work our teams have done and strengthens our roadmap toward sustainability. Being able to objectively measure our footprint allows us to manage it\u2014and in the future, neutralize it. This recognition motivates us to keep strengthening our sustainability strategy, an attribute that undoubtedly integrates with our GRP model to achieve sustainable mining in the territories where we operate,\u201d stated Paulina Andreoli.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The ceremony was led by Minister of the Environment Maisa Rojas and attended by representatives from Universidad Aut\u00f3noma, Claudia Gintersdorfer, the European Union Ambassador to Chile, and Ximena Ruz, Executive Director of the Sustainability and Climate Change Agency.<\/p>\n

Regarding the distinctions awarded to CMP, Minister Maisa Rojas remarked:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis program invites private companies to take responsibility for carbon management voluntarily. I would like to congratulate you on these seals and encourage you to remain committed to this shared task of reducing the country\u2019s carbon footprint.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

HuellaChile is a program that promotes the calculation, reporting, and management of GHG emissions in public and private organizations, granting distinctions that range from Quantification to Excellence. Although led by the Ministry of the Environment, it is supported and funded by the European Commission and the governments of Germany and Australia.<\/p>\n

In this regard, CMP has maintained a consistent track record of achievements: it has earned the GHG Quantification Seal for five consecutive years (2020\u20132025); the Reduction Seal in 2022, 2023, and 2025; and in 2023, also received the Excellence Seal for outstanding management performance.<\/p>\n

For CMP, these results are clear evidence that it is on the right path in terms of sustainability and environmental responsibility, thanks to various initiatives in carbon management and innovation leadership. They also demonstrate CMP\u2019s strong commitment to local territories and communities, promoting a different kind of mining\u2014one that transforms purpose into tangible results in the face of climate change challenges.<\/p>\n
