The company made a strategic mark at the international conference on mining operational excellence, taking on the conference presidency and actively participating in high-level technical sessions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Minexcellence 2025, organized by Gesti\u00f3n de Capacitaci\u00f3n Minera (GECAMIN), the University of Atacama, Universidad T\u00e9cnica Federico Santa Mar\u00eda, and the University of Alberta, kicked off on Monday, December 2 with a milestone for northern Chile: Compa\u00f1\u00eda Minera del Pac\u00edfico (CMP) led the event as Main Sponsor, positioning the regions of Atacama and Coquimbo in the global conversation on operational excellence and the future of mining.<\/p>\n

This year, the conference presidency was held by CMP\u2019s Operations Manager, Makarina Orellana, whose leadership reflects the value of the knowledge built in the mining operations across the Huasco, Elqui, and Copiap\u00f3 valleys. Her role highlights the technical contributions that emerge from the territories and now reach an international platform.<\/p>\n

The congress brings together more than 700 participants from 12 countries and includes over 160 technical presentations, among them 7 led by CMP and 14 delivered by its professionals. The presentations will address methodologies, lessons learned, and experiences related to digital capabilities, artificial intelligence, planning, diverse teams, and other solutions aimed at optimizing processes, reducing variability, integrating technology, and advancing toward safer, more efficient, and more sustainable mining. They will also cover high-grade magnetic iron as a strategic mineral for enabling decarbonization.<\/p>\n

For the company, operational excellence is a continuous process that integrates risk management, resource efficiency, technological adoption, and resilient teams. Over the past five years, CMP has reduced its accident indicators by 50%, a milestone achieved through its Process Risk Management (GRP) model, which enables preventive planning, informed decision-making, and greater operational control.<\/p>\n

During the conference, Makarina emphasized the value of collective learning for the industry: \u201cWhat was generated at this conference returns to our teams, operations, and communities.
