The document highlights progress in decarbonization, water management, and territorial development in the Atacama and Coquimbo regions, emphasizing the role of high-grade iron as a critical mineral for decarbonization and the company\u2019s commitment to more sustainable mining.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Compa\u00f1\u00eda Minera del Pac\u00edfico (CMP), the country\u2019s leading iron ore producer, presented its 2025 Sustainability Report, a document outlining the company\u2019s progress toward its purpose of developing a different kind of mining, based on creating sustainable value for territories and their communities.<\/p>\n

One of the most significant milestones of the period was the inclusion of high-grade magnetic iron in Chile\u2019s National Critical Minerals Strategy, recognition that positions CMP as a strategic player in the global energy transition. Thanks to its products \u2014 with iron grades of up to 69% \u2014 steel can be produced with up to 30% lower CO\u2082 emissions.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur products enable steel production processes with lower emissions. That is the foundation of the medium- and long-term commercial strategy we have at Compa\u00f1\u00eda Minera del Pac\u00edfico, which aligns with our purpose of creating a different kind of mining \u2014 more sustainable and future-oriented,\u201d said Francisco Carvajal, CEO of CMP.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Environmental Management and Climate Action<\/strong><\/p>\n

During 2025, the company reinforced its sustainable operating model as a structural pillar of its strategy. In terms of decarbonization, CMP obtained the HuellaChile Reduction Seal for the third consecutive year, and starting in January 2026 began operating with a 100% renewable energy matrix across all its operations.<\/p>\n

In water management, the Copiap\u00f3 Valley operates with 100% desalinated and recirculated water, while the Pellet Plant reduced its continental water consumption by 30% thanks to the implementation of the Filtered Tailings Storage Facility (FTSF).<\/p>\n

This progress is complemented by advances in circular economy initiatives, with the Magnetite Plant recovering copper tailings and by-products from environmental liabilities in the region to transform them into iron. Through a magnetic concentration process that uses no chemicals and relies exclusively on desalinated water, the plant has produced between 1.8 and 1.9 million tons of high-quality concentrate.<\/p>\n

Shared Value and Territorial Development<\/strong><\/p>\n

CMP\u2019s work with communities in the Copiap\u00f3, Huasco, and Elqui valleys is based on ongoing dialogue, quality-of-life improvements, and social investment focused on strengthening local capabilities, particularly in education and the demands of the mining industry of the future.<\/p>\n

In this regard, more than 1,400 students participated in training initiatives, and 118 higher education scholarships were awarded, in addition to training and employability programs such as the Trainee and Apprenticeship programs.<\/p>\n

In the productive sector, the company promoted programs in 2025 that benefited more than 380 farmers and 2,000 fishermen in the Atacama Region. Additionally, 44,000 hectares were made available for small-scale mining development through an agreement with ENAMI.<\/p>\n

The company also continued supporting community organizations, promoting sports and culture \u2014 including the Guayac\u00e1n Symphony Orchestra \u2014 and implementing a new Community Portal to strengthen transparency and engagement with local communities.<\/p>\n

Innovation and Future Vision<\/strong><\/p>\n

CMP is advancing its transformation through the use of new technologies and a roadmap aimed at making its operations more efficient and sustainable. Through automation, digital tools, and artificial intelligence, the company is optimizing processes and improving decision-making.<\/p>\n

Key initiatives include the underground mining development project at Minas El Romeral, along with continued improvements in operational efficiency and emissions reduction. In addition, beginning in 2026, the company expects to operate entirely on renewable energy, reinforcing its commitment to cleaner mining aligned with climate change challenges.<\/p>\n
