Juan N\u00fa\u00f1ez, Automation and Control Supervisor and member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee (CPHS) at CMP\u2019s Cerro Negro Norte operation, was recognized in the Outstanding Safety Workers 2025 category for inspiring his peers through visible leadership, mutual care, and a strong commitment to preventive standards in his operational area.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As part of the 15th Mining Dinner 2026, organized by the Atacama Regional Mining Safety Committee (CORESEMIN), Compa\u00f1\u00eda Minera del Pac\u00edfico (CMP) employee Juan N\u00fa\u00f1ez received the Outstanding Safety Worker 2025 award, a distinction that recognizes individuals who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to risk prevention and the well-being of people in their workplaces.<\/p>\n

N\u00fa\u00f1ez, who works as an Automation and Control Supervisor at Cerro Negro Norte and is a member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee (CPHS), was recognized for his visible safety leadership in the field, his commitment to mutual care, and his ongoing dedication to complying with occupational health and safety standards.<\/p>\n

“I am very proud of this recognition, which, more than a personal award, represents the work we carry out as a Joint Committee to ensure the safety of our employees. It is a collaborative effort involving the company’s Risk Management team and ACHS, coordinated through our Risk Management in Processes (GRP) methodology, which we apply every day to identify, manage, and prevent risks to workers’ health,” said Juan N\u00fa\u00f1ez.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

CMP’s Risk Management and Sustainability Manager, Paulina Andreoli, highlighted the importance of safety within the company’s mining operations:<\/p>\n

“At CMP, we understand that safety is part of the way we do mining. Our risk management model enables us to identify, control, and verify risks, while also allowing us to learn and continuously improve. Juan’s recognition reflects this commitment, which is built on mutual care. Moving toward a different kind of mining also means always placing people’s lives and well-being at the center of our decisions.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The distinction is awarded by CORESEMIN Atacama following an evaluation process and seeks to recognize workers who have demonstrated a consistent commitment to prevention and who, through their example, contribute to strengthening a culture of safety across the regional mining industry.<\/p>\n

“The importance of this ceremony lies in recognizing individuals and companies that demonstrate good occupational health and safety practices. One of CORESEMIN’s key strengths is the partnerships created between companies and the opportunity to share best practices. That is why it is so important to recognize workers within each organization who demonstrate leadership in safety and drive continuous improvement,” said William Henott, President of CORESEMIN Atacama.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

For Compa\u00f1\u00eda Minera del Pac\u00edfico, this recognition reinforces the importance of continuing to strengthen a preventive management approach that anticipates and manages risks across all its processes and operations, with leadership, employee participation, and mutual care serving as key pillars of safe and sustainable mining.
