Self-care and the \u201cstop, look and listen\u201d recommendations were among the key messages delivered to people traveling near the railway line.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As part of Chile\u2019s Independence Day celebrations, Compa\u00f1\u00eda Minera del Pac\u00edfico (CMP), together with Carabineros de Chile, once again carried out a railway safety awareness campaign aimed at raising awareness among pedestrians and drivers about the risks associated with traveling near railway tracks and helping prevent accidents.<\/p>\n

The activity, which CMP regularly conducts in the municipalities of La Serena and Coquimbo as part of its comprehensive safety plan to reduce risks associated with the railway line and its surroundings, was held this time at the intersection of Francisco de Aguirre Avenue and Route 5, an area with heavy pedestrian and vehicular traffic.<\/p>\n

The Superintendent of Puerto Guayac\u00e1n, Gabriela Lafuente; Head of Railway Operations and Maintenance, Jorge Meza; and CMP\u2019s Community Relations team approached pedestrians and drivers to deliver an important message: stop, look and listen before crossing the railway tracks, and always respect warning signs and signals. These are simple recommendations that are often overlooked, but they help protect everyone.<\/p>\n

During celebrations such as September 18, the number of people in the area increases considerably, which is why the company strengthened its on-site safety efforts. CMP understands safety as a commitment that goes beyond its operations and extends to the communities and territories where it operates. For this reason, the company seeks to ensure that residents and visitors understand that trains operate continuously, are aware of the associated risks, and adopt responsible behavior while taking the necessary precautions.<\/p>\n

In this context, Gabriela Lafuente said,<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an emblematic date for all Chileans, and we must remember that the train continues to operate. This is a tourist region, and it is important to remind both residents and visitors of the safety recommendations at railway crossings. We need everyone\u2019s support to ensure that this is safe.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Meanwhile, Sub-Officer Cristi\u00e1n Flores of the First Police Station of La Serena highlighted the ongoing collaboration with CMP to promote responsible behavior around the railway line.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a great deal of cooperation between both institutions, and this work has been carried out for three years. We have had a very positive experience working together with CMP.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

CMP\u2019s train is part of the daily movement across the conurbation, operating regularly throughout the day. However, even though it travels at speeds of no more than 20 kilometers per hour and signals its approach, it is essential that everyone contributes to prevention. Following these recommendations helps protect the community while also supporting the work of the company\u2019s operational teams, enabling safe coexistence between people and a train that has historically traveled between Romeral and Guayac\u00e1n.<\/p>\n
