**CMP concludes its 2025 Apprenticeship Program, strengthening youth employment in mining**
The initiative aims to strengthen the talent of young people from the Copiapó, Huasco, and Elqui valleys by providing them with the knowledge and skills needed to expand their career opportunities in the mining industry.
In a new edition of its program designed to support graduates from technical and vocational high schools, Compañía Minera del Pacífico (CMP) successfully concluded the 2025 Apprenticeship Program, with 10 young participants graduating after demonstrating outstanding commitment, performance, and professional growth.
CMP Deputy Operations Manager Maximiliano Leiton highlighted the importance of the initiative:
“This program reflects the company’s commitment to youth employment and the development of local talent by providing young people from our host communities with their first professional experience in the iron mining industry. Throughout the program, participants acquire practical skills, strengthen their capabilities, and prepare to build successful careers in an industry that plays a key role in the sustainable development of the Atacama and Coquimbo regions.”
CMP’s Apprenticeship Program is designed to identify, develop, and prepare young talent for careers in mining by offering recent high school graduates a one-year training experience within the company, supported by experienced mentors and hands-on learning in iron mining operations.
Nicolay Peralta, a graduate of the 2025 Apprenticeship Program and now a CMP employee, shared his experience:
“This program was an excellent opportunity to learn, both from a technical perspective and from the people who guided us throughout the training. One of my main goals was to join the company, and today I am very happy to have achieved that. To those beginning this journey, I would say: make the most of this experience because it allows you to grow, learn, and build a future in the mining industry.”
2026 Apprenticeship Program
During the same ceremony, CMP officially launched the 2026 Apprenticeship Program, welcoming a new group of young participants from the Copiapó, Huasco, and Elqui valleys, where the company operates its main mining assets.
The selected candidates successfully completed a comprehensive recruitment and selection process, which included a pre-training stage designed to prepare and assess participants in technical, operational, and mining-related competencies. This phase enabled the company to evaluate each participant’s commitment, adaptability, and potential to continue in the program.
Through this initiative, CMP reaffirms its commitment to developing new talent and creating opportunities for young people in the Atacama and Coquimbo regions, fostering professional career paths linked to the iron mining industry and the communities where the company operates.
