CMP strengthens community sports in Guayacán by providing sports kits to four football clubs

The initiative provided nearly 350 football kits to players from CD Progreso, Enabeli, Sergio Livingstone, and Racing football clubs, as the result of a collaborative effort between the company and the local community.

Elqui Valley, Chile – Demonstrating its ongoing commitment to the development of the communities where it operates, Compañía Minera del Pacífico (CMP) delivered new sports uniforms to the four football clubs in the Guayacán area, benefiting nearly 350 local athletes.

The event took place in Guayacán and brought together representatives from CD Progreso, Enabeli, Sergio Livingstone, and Racing football clubs, as well as local residents and company representatives, who highlighted the importance of sports in promoting healthy lifestyles, social inclusion, and stronger community ties.

The new sports kits were made possible through a collaborative effort between CMP and the community, addressing a need identified by the local sports organizations and supporting their activities throughout the current season.

Andrés Pizarro, Head of Community Relations and Territorial Value for CMP’s Elqui Valley operations, stated:

“This initiative consists of the delivery of more than 350 sports kits to the four community football clubs in Guayacán, organizations that embody the spirit and history of this community. Some of these clubs have been part of the area for more than 90 years and are outstanding examples of community organization. Through this initiative, we are fulfilling a commitment made by CMP in 2021 to provide annual sports uniforms, while also involving the clubs themselves in the design of their jerseys.”

Félix Cáceres, President of Club Deportivo Progreso, expressed his appreciation for the company’s support and highlighted its positive impact on the clubs’ operations.

“We are grateful to Compañía Minera del Pacífico for this important contribution to the football clubs of Guayacán. It directly supports the development of our sporting activities and helps us cover one of our biggest expenses as organizations—the purchase of sports equipment and uniforms. As non-profit clubs, this support allows us to allocate our resources to other important needs, such as providing snacks for children or assisting players who require additional support,” he said.

CMP also maintains an ongoing forum for dialogue and collaboration with the four local football clubs, promoting joint initiatives on matters of shared interest related to the development of community sports and the management of facilities that these organizations have historically used.

Through initiatives like this, CMP reaffirms its commitment to the well-being and development of the communities surrounding its operations by supporting actions that improve quality of life and strengthen spaces for community engagement, participation, and social cohesion.
